so jh and i booked a trip to morocco in october. 2 weeks in casablanca...marrakech...fez...hell, why not tangier and the south of spain while we're at it?
this trip is something i have been dreaming about for years. it feels odd that something i always held as a bit of a pipe dream is in the process of becoming a reality...
it all feels rather grown up, somehow.
monday, after booking the tickets, i rushed immediately from work to chapters to pick up a morocco travel guide.
at the risk of sounding silly, it felt awfully romantic to settle into a corner of the store in my cute little work outfit (pencil skirt, polkadot blouse, black trenchcoat) and spend an hour armchair-traveling to a far-off land while agonizing over which guide to get, comparing hotel descriptions, travel tips, and maps...
though it's a year older (2009), i settled on the lonely planet guide, as reading the hotel descriptions, i could just hear them as anecdotes shared in some far-off cafe by some middle-aged brit with a dry wit, the type whose conversation always keeps you off-balance, unsure when they are joking or telling the deepest truth they know.
this is exactly what i needed.
