communication addict?

so my computer died. as in dead died. well, in theory it is just the power source that is dead, but since my computer sucks and i'm getting a new one at the end of the month anyway, i think i'm pronouncing time of death.

however, because CIDA blocks gmail and facebook, i suddenly find myself detached from all but my friends in my immediate vicinity. it's not that i can't check my email once or twice a day, as i have a kind and generous roommate, but i suddenly find myself feeling quite anxious that i might not get the latest news as-it-happens, or that i might miss a funny joke or plan until it's too late. and perish the thought of being the last to know the latest gossip...

i wonder if i'm addicted to communicating. i'm not a web-surfer by any means, but i still manage to waste hours in front of the computer. now i feel anxious that my computer is gone (and not just because i have a paper due tomorrow). is constant communication keeping me from feeling some sort of loneliness or ennuie about my ottawa life?

i guess it's time to find out...

(please don't think this is an excuse to not email me etc. do it twice as often, so i can be twice as happy when i finally get them. deal?)
